Monk PvP Builds

[:1]Well, the thread by Flux kinda got be thinking on this. I will be playing the monk as my first character with a focus on PvP.

The build I am currently thinking would work well is:

Hands of Lightning

Crippling Wave

Dashing Strike

Seven Sided Strike

Circle of Wrath or Serenity (depends on how much CoW heals for)

Breath of Heaven

Blinding Flash

Just wondering what other people are thinking at this point. Remember that this is a build focused on PvP|||im going open mind, since there is rougly 2 skilltrees of unrevealed skills. don't know its really too early to say|||"The Crippled Leaper"

SSS

Crippling Wave

Exploding Palm

BoH

Hundred Fist

Lashing Kick

Circle of Wrath

|||Out of curiosity, why Lashing Kick?|||Knockback.|||Out of curiosity, you sure Exploding Palm works the same way in Pvp?|||It will probably be a hefty DoT for its main attraction.|||Quote:

I doubt I can make the opponent blow up. I see it as a source of OW (glorified poison), and effective if they break off or I break off.|||Out of curiosity(MiniMonk feels like following the trend), why choose Breath of Heaven instead of Dominate Aura, Blinding Flash, or Retribution Aura when your build seems like it focuses on adding debuffs to your opponents?

This would probably be MM's build in PvP(if/when he gets around to it.):

A few notes: How many points each skill will have is undecided so far.

Since how runes work with all of the Monk's skills, some of which are still unknown right now, have yet to be decided/known this might drastically change which skills MM picks when we find that out.

The Monk's traits will probably be changes a bit and again might drastically change which traits MM picks when we find that out.

3 Combo Moves(these will be assigned to the mouse buttons):

1 : Way of the Hundred Fists, but only if stage two gives Spirit for each mini hit, if it does not do that then Hands of Lightning.

2 : Dashing Strike for mobility, but only if it does work like a movement skill if not then Long Reach, Hands of Lightning or the other of #3.

3 : Crippling Wave/Exploding Palm(Depends on which one MM likes more.)

4 Spirit Moves:

1 : Circle of Wrath, Hurt your opponents while healing yourself and any nearby allies at at the same time? Yes!

2 : Wave of Light/Seven Sided Strike(Needs at least some form of a long range attack. Will probably pick Wave of Light tho as MM doesn't like the rune that appears with SSS which tells the opponents where you are going to be once your attack is finished.)

3 : Serenity(Might needs some protection in tricky situations, like if MM got in the center of slow time AND grasp of the dead while having no movement skill to get out, on cooldown maybe? If MM does have a movement skill tho then he would probably switch this with the other of #4)

4 : Blinding Flash/Dominate Aura(MM can't really decide between these two, it will depend on which team members he likes fighting with the most, if it is more melee based then Blinding Flash, if it more spread out, which it will probably be, then Dominate Aura.)

Traits(MM is working with the proposed 30 points that we will at least have(so far in the current plans of D3.) :

5 Superior Skill

5 Precision

3 Rapid Strikes(Only if it works for Combo Moves.)/Temperature Control(Gear might determine if MM will pick this or not.)/Frenzied Attacks

5 True Spirit(Only if Way of the Hundred Fists stage two does not give Spirit for each mini hit.)/Toughness

3 Fleet

3 Healer

3 Intimidation

3 Sixth Sense

And if we do gain any extra trait points MM will put only one point into Pound of Flesh unless the % that the globes can heal you also increases per point invested in the trait.

Small note : MM might, and most likely, have over-thought this and he does not plan on PvP that much. >.<|||What struck me when checking out the current skills of the monk and the appearant resilence of the witchdoctor(seems to be the hardest toon to kill) perhaps it would be possible to create a 2v2 outlast team? The monk provides some healing power, dispels and burst potential for when the dots and pets of the witchdoctor have softened up the opposing team.

But perhaps Blizzard really will try and avoid this and just focus on making the arena be like WoW double dps vs double dps arena matches. Would be fun to be able to play a control team though.
