How satisfied are you with the Monk? 1-10 - Page 4

ill give him anything from a 9-10. I wasn't that big of a fan of the D1 monk, nor the Guild Wars Monk, long story short I never liked monks. The main thing I love about this Monk is he isn't Asian, not to be hating on Asians just saying the Oriental Monk is overplayed. I really have yet to see a true example of his movements to tell you exactly how unasian he is but we shall see that indeed.

Really though I am decided I will be playing either Monk or unanounced class.|||8, the monk is pretty unique and i am looking forward to it!|||Quote:

The monk looks Asian IMO, just like the Wizard.

But Blizzard said they want the classes to have Western influences too, so I guess they have been successful in this aspect.|||Quote:

Yeah... with all the fire and explosions.

The Monk is as much of a martial artist as the characters on Naruto are ninjas.

I must have been confusing him punching for casting a fire spell. My mistake Those kicks I saw were clearly a fire ball.|||Quote:

3 here.

He had to be Asian since the Pal is Black! ^_-

P.S.: For those who haven't seen him yet , sparing them Google-ing - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFGXKV_45HQ.

Yep, and the sorceress is middle eastern.|||6.5

I really like the character idea and the skills I've seen in videos. He looks the most fun to play so far, easily making the other characters pale in comparison.

BUT!

We need a real tank class, as the Barbarian is not a perfect fit for that role: heck, he ditches a shield in favor of another sword! That's not very tank friendly.

The monk honestly seems like a character best saved for expansion material, and not a core archetypical class to cover the bases. If that were the case, and we were rating the Monk under expansion contexts, he would easily get a 10. Just not now, Blizzard!|||Quote:

The Barbarian IS the tank. You don't need to hold a shield to be one.

I totally disagree with this. You don't need a generic class to be one of the main five classes in D3, the WD is already a good example.

And thank god Blizzard didn't add some boring shield/sword knight class, it would be a big turn-off as it doesn't fit into the game.|||8/10- must wait for how combo system of attack unfolds with character

Played VERY fun, but the skills were limited (the skills tress were named A, B, and C, ffs)

10/10 for gameplay and originality and the reemergence of CORPSE EXPLOSION BABY (exploding plam)|||Quote:

Good point, you've almost got me convinced; however, would you agree that it seems we have lost some tankability among our five main classes (assuming the final unannounced class is the ranger archetype)?

It may seem I was implying that I want a boring tanker to fill the role, but I only wanted to pointed out that the Monk probably isn't a good tanking class. With that said, I'll probably still play him first.

And just for arguments sake, I think a Knight class would fit fairly well in the game, more so than say, a Monk. From a technical and design perspective, the majority of weapons and armor you find would be more of use.|||7/10

I like the idea, I'd prefer the cleric though.

Something posted already that I agree:

Not sure if moving faster than the eye can follow is a good thing; it's hard to tell what he's really doing. It's even harder to see what's going on with all the light effects from his attacks.
