How will runes affect a monks combos?

How do you guys think runes will affect the monks combos? Do you think it'll only affect the third stage, or give every stage a variation.

I ask, because I don't even think blizzard knows. I think that's why runes were disabled for the blizzcon demo.

Also, what skill/rune combinations would you suggest?|||I could see runes working for all stages, wouldn't be hard to make. Power runes would just increase the damage, multi strike would make AoE attacks large and the rapid punch attack hit an arc rather than 1 monster.

Gimme a rune and skill i could explain possibilities.

The reason that the runes were disabled because balancing them is extremely hard at this point. Considering how many complaints they got at 08 Blizzcon about balancing they just bothered to drop them out. Not to mention in the panel they said very validly that because every time they change a skill it forces them to change the rune for it all over again its a waste of time to make runes at the moment, they will be done once skills are complete.|||The Wiki points out

* Energy Rune

* Viper Rune (named Lethality before)

* Hydra Rune (named Multi-strike before)

* Force Rune (named Power before)

* Striking Rune

from what i can tell energy will probably reduce mana costs,

perhaps adding leech or + on death/or effect where there is no cost.

Viper increases critical hit chance and adds nasty death effects, perhaps it will increase chance of success where a hit is not involved or reduce your chance at being the subject of a critical when used on the passive

hydra adds multi hit capability, the knock on effects are reasonably easy to predict, with non hitting passives ...any ones guess

force may increase the overall damage/power/ % chance etc of any given skill, basically a +skills

Striking gives a formerly passive or non hostile skill the ability to inflict damage, perhaps increasing range, effectiveness even speed of any offensive power, knock back, stunning, blinding,

judging from these fairly general concepts i dont see that it would be too difficult to guess what the runes would do to the monks so far incomplete skill list, but that said , how Bliz will have offensive runes interact with passive skills could lead to many weird and wonderful effects that would be difficult to guess, for example a Hydra rune used with "Impenetrable Defense" could mean that any reflected projectile is magically tripled and returned

i dont envy the person who has the job of balancing this nightmare.|||Passive skills can't have runes, and Impenetrable Defense is an active skill. Was labeled wrong on the wiki but I fixed that earlier.
