Missile Weapon Class?

I was expecting the replacement for the Rogue/Amazon to show up before any other new class.

But a thought came to me from the back of my mind. Are not japanese monks well known for their archery?

After some research it seems that in Japan archery with asymmetrical longbows appeared around 250 BC – 330 BC. Later on the samurai took up the practise of archery and called it kyūjutsu, the skill of bow. Later on samurai incorporated the zen-buddhism introduced by chinese monks leading to a new practice called kyūdō which to this day is practiced by ~500.000 people.

So what do you think?

Will the Monk be an efficient archer or will they make a whole new Rogue/Amazon-copy-class for that?|||My hope is that there will be at least two classes in D3 that can use bows, crossbows, and throwing weapons effectively. It was kind of lame that in D2 only one class could really use bows and xbows.|||The Wizard could probably use ranged weapons, what with all her enchantments. Also this monk is really not that Japanese.|||Off hand, I can think of the Ranger class that would fit this.|||"It was kind of lame that in D2 only one class could really use bows and xbows."

That's not necessarily true. Paladins could use bows somewhat effectively when combined with auras. Especially with the Widowmaker Ward Bow. Gives oskill Guided Arrow.

Enchant Sorcs with any bow that gave exploding arrow would transfer the fire damage to the bow shot as well, doing a modest AoE.|||I think a range class is coming next. Lets take a look at what we aleady have

D2 D3

Barb Barb

Necro Witch doctor

Sorc Wizard

Paladin Monk (Kinda)

Amazon ???|||Quote:

I'd guess some kind of amazon -> ranger. Perhaps with some animal-summon-control (druid).

(I'd say Monk is more like assassin then paladin, but oh well)
