Monk PvP Builds - Page 2

What struck me when checking out the current skills of the monk and the appearant resilence of the witchdoctor(seems to be the hardest toon to kill) perhaps it would be possible to create a 2v2 outlast team? The monk provides some healing power, dispels and burst potential for when the dots and pets of the witchdoctor have softened up the opposing team.



But perhaps Blizzard really will try and avoid this and just focus on making the arena be like WoW double dps vs double dps arena matches. Would be fun to be able to play a control team though.




I really like that combo. I have always gone for the verstaile jack of all trades type and I think that fits the WD and monk the best.

That, right there, is balls to the wall truly the dream team to beat. A zombie voodoo witch doctor buffed and tanked by a freaking bulletproof monk and diseased minions... would epically spank any two toons i dont care which ones it wouldnt matter they'd be goners....

Envision it, "A NEW ROUND HAS STARTED"...

WD throws up several blazing zombie dogs and a gargantuan, while the monk buffs everyone with dominate aura. The pair charges toward two doomed souls, lets say a barb and a wiz.

Monk (me) dashing strike jumping right on the barb with the zombies, lays down a couple quick combos (a crippling wave and HoL or 100fist), and sticks a quick exploding palm for a little DoT just as the enemy wiz teleports in and throws up slow time bubble.

Witch Doc detonates all blazen zombie dogs right at this moment, blasting both bogies. Assuming the WD wasnt just standing there up to this point, and maybe tossing firebombs or plagues, the barb is toast after one quick SSS or Wave of Light.

Wiz is now all by himself, wasting precious seconds being engaged with the gargantuan, and teleports away.... spending the cooldown time in a Grasp of the Dead next to a ripping WoZ, cant do anything while more zombies swarm to him...

JaMonk (me) and the Witchdocs minions all powered up by Dominate Aura swoop in and straight up deep fry little wizard as he desperately tries to escape... he maybe gets off one more teleport before he's down for the count, and either dies running away with an exploding palm show or dies standing his ground to the hands of the monk.

Even if timing was off between the WD/Monk team, or the Barb/Wiz team were skilled players, one Spirit Walk (Witch doctor) or Serenity (Monk) cast will take them out of the sticky to regroup and hit back.

A simply gorgeous pwny express run all over any two challengers in the arena... ladies and gentlemen i give you god's pvp gladiators, the Witch Doctor and the Monk

Sounds good, but in reality your opponents dont just stand there and let you kill them. They will be countering things that you do and doing other things that force you to adjust on the fly. The Barb and Wiz are hardly push overs and could easily beat a Monk/WD team. Plus there are skills that we have not even hear of yet to take into consideration.|||Was pondering over how different a pvp build to a pve build would be and how Breath of Heaven would be a must-have skill for pvp. But what really intrigued me was how that skill would level up? I mean, what purpose would more points than 1 have? Also really excited how runes are gonna work with the monks skills in general. They seem to be in a whole other level than the other classes.|||Quote:
