Why the Monk? - Page 3

[:1]the concept of fighting with minimal armor and primitive weapons is awesome. I wonder if this guy will be easier to play on consoles because of the combos|||I'll tell you why I WON'T pick the monk: I'm tired of always being a weakling. The Monk strikes me as too weak in Diablo 3. So, I'll probably play the Witch Doctor if not something else.|||Wat

You ignore the tank to pick up the glass cannon. hmmm...|||In looking at the serious deep changes between Assassin and monk, I can say I do like the way the monk is developing more. I remember the expac launching and thinking, ooh, shiny when looking at the xpac classes. Coming back, I am seeing that I want more out of a martial artist than the assassin had to offer. I found a trap heavy build more interesting than the martial arts heavy build myself, and looking at the monk, it looks to me like they still use the hit hit hit finisher style, but the hit hit hit part isn't just there to build up your finisher, even though it does that, it's still more it's own attack than it was with the assassin.

I think the martial arts side of the monk is going to be much more interesting and non martial arts side of the of the monk is going to look more like a paladin/mage of some sort combo as opposed to a barbarian/mage type combo, that I got playing the assassin (ie, excess points in masteries and self buffs, and lets throw in an amazonish type pet while we're at it). Of course, I'd say now the assassin isn't one of my first choice of characters, I'll admit I may be missing something as far as the assassin goes.

The monk doesn't strike me as a tank like class. I do think the witch doctor will be an interesting class, but due to his pet/spell play style, I think he will have more survivability in the long run for the same reason the necro as better survivability than the spearazon. He just won't be in there mixing it up. Indeed, even if I built a poison dagger necro, I think I'd still have a few skeletons to round out the edges or to throw in harms way when I"m having difficulties. Enchantment sorceresses don't even have that kind of option.|||I fully intend for my first character to be a sort of tank-healer monk.

(Hardcore)|||Three words: combos, combos, combos! |||Because I like the female monk's character design better than all the others. That is really all that makes me want to play a Monk over Wizard/Barbarian/Demon Hunter. I don't want to play Witch Doctor though just because that playstyle bugs me.|||I had the most fun with my martial arts assassin. Being in the fray of things, kicking *** while being a bit more fragile than other classes really kept me on my toes, and I want that in my life again lol. I'm actually playing a monk character for my friend's pathfinder campaign because I can't wait to play lol.|||Point of the game is to fight monsters. The Monk = martial arts. You do the logic.|||I've always been a fan of fighting games and i remember wishing the Assassin had better martial arts mechanics.

Basically when i saw "Way of the hundred Fists", it just looked so damn awesome... it was love at first sight.

So, Monk it is for me for first character then.
