He's certainly interesting, I don't think I've ever seen a game with a class that uses no weapons.

I played one for myself.
hehe look at this. real monks fighting. maybe blizzard can use some inperation from the drunken monkey at the end. lol

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Llqup1Uir6k&feature=fvst|||on the official D3 website, a concept art can be found of the fist weapons of the monk: http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/characters/monk.xml
The weapon class looks similar to the katar's etc of the assassin in D2.|||I played the demo all yesterday. The monk started with a specific weapon, "Combat Staff", and could not equip any other weapons of any kind. No swords, daggers, staffs, axes, polearms, nothing. However, at the class design panel, the devs mentioned that as he equips different weapons, the animations of his attacks change, like a staff causing sweeping strikes. Indeed, using weakening wave caused him to swing his staff in a wide arc, so I imagine each weapon type will sport a unique look. Today, I will see if he can fight with no weapon at all.|||Quote:

Thanks for the info, Grug. Keep us informed!
It's a bit of a letdown that he can only use two weapon types. Lets see how things turn out.|||Quote:

I wouldn't rule out all other weapons just yet. As Grug pointed out, the attack animations changed depending on the weapon type. So, it's certainly possible that the animations for some of the other weapons simply aren't completed yet.
Also, balancing and player feedback will likely add pressure to widen the Monk's armory.|||Based on what Grug says, I'm assuming you'll want to use different weapons according to the situation. I.E. staves for more AoE crowd control stuff, and fist weapons for the more focused attacks.
At any rate, I'm glad to see that staves are now viable melee weapons.|||Until some demon with anger management issues breaks them.
