Could this be "Demonsbane?" With an "S" in the middle? Translation change? That's a more natural word, ala "Wolfsbane", and it's even the name of a Diablo novel.

Then again, the Barb used to have a skill called "bloodthirst." No, not "bloodthirsty" the actual word, what everyone would naturally have called it. So dropping one letter to create their own words for skill names might be a theme...
